Allergy Immunotherapy is recommended for children 4 years and older when the ability to communicate has been established. In some circumstances and based on provider comfortability, immunotherapy can be started at 2 years of age. Skin tests are done on your child’s arm or back depending on your child’s level of cooperation. Reduction of allergic reactions can be seen in as little as 8 to 12 months after beginning immunotherapy. Benefits include lessened risk of developing upper respiratory infections due to allergies, reduction in allergy induced asthma, and increased immune system. Talk to your provider about getting your child started today!
